Summers in Nanaimo are never boring, in July Bathtub Weekend is Nanaimo's most popular event, people build boats out of bath tubs and race them around the Nanaimo harbour and surrounding islands. Downtown and the waterfront are packed with vendors, food trucks, live music and beer gardens, they cap the weekend off with an amazing fireworks display.

The Silly Boat Regatta, teams build boats out whatever they can find and race them through the downtown harbour. Many don't succeed and end up swimming, its a great event with tons of laughs and fun for the whole family.

Throughout the summer we have family movie nights, enjoy a giant inflatable movie screen that is set up in Maffeo Sutton park downtown where families and friends can get together have a picnic and watch a movie.

Party in the park is a great summer event held at the Beban soccer fields, a fun evening of food trucks, beer gardens and live music.

Another major event is the annual 5K Foam Fest, hundreds of people race through a foamy, muddy and wet obstacle course with over 20 obstacles, including, climbing walls, mud pits, rope climb and the worlds largest inflatable waterslide.
